This is an easy guide to follow to help clean your hat, so that you don't have to buy a new hat every few months and keep your favorite looking fresh.
The Supplies You Need To Clean Your Hat
Here's a short list of the items you need to clean your hat. It's time to gather your cleaning supplies, so here's what you'll need:
- Toothbrush
- Mild detergent
- Bowl
- Warm water
- A clean towel
- OxiClean (Color safe for tougher stains)
Start Cleaning Your Hat
If you're trying to give your hat a quick wash, or looking to work on tougher stains, the biggest thing to know is that you don't have to put a lot of muscle into this. Start with a light clean first to see how it goes, and work your way up from there.
Before you start, make sure to not soak your hat brim in the water, or you can ruin the shape of the brim of your hat.
Follow these steps to clean:
- Fill the bowl with warm water.
- Start to put some mild detergent in the bowl and mix it with the water.
- Dip your toothbrush in the bowl, and then start brushing in small circles the dirty part of your hat.
- Repeat brushing your hat with the toothbrush 2 to 3 times in small circles.
- Next, wipe off the detergent with your dry towel and let your hat sit for 5 minutes.
If you still see some of the dirt of sweat left, repeat the steps above.
If the stain is much tougher like having heavy sweat stains, you can using OxiClean and let it sit on the stain area for 10 mins, then brush it with the toothbrush and lightly rinse with warm water.

Start Scrubbing Your Hat
When you're scrubbing your favorite hat with the toothbrush, make sure you aren't grinding it on your hat. You'll end up ruining the threads on your hat and make it more worn out.
You'll want to slightly brush it in small circular motions, and then dip your toothbrush back in the warm water mix to clean off dirt particles.
Best Way To Dry Your Hat
After you're done cleaning your hat, you'll want to gently pat it dry with a clean towel to remove excess water and any dirt that's left. Avoid wringing or twisting your hat, as this can cause it to lose its shape.
Once it's mostly dry, reshape your hat and let it air dry completely. It'll look good as new as one of our snapbacks.
*Avoid using a hairdryer or any direct heat source, as this can damage the material.
Should You Use The Washing Machine For Your Hat?
You can use a washing machine for your hat, but we don't recommend it and just like any other type of clothing you can wear it out much faster that way. The brim of the hat can become badly damaged that way by using the washing machine.
You also risk losing its shape, compared to just hand washing your hat by hand.
